Preworkscreen Helps Healthcare Organization Comply with New OSHA COVID-19 Emergency Temporary Standards
On June 21, 2021 OSHA implemented occupational safety and health standards for healthcare organizations as the Delta variant of COVID-19 became more prevalent. Healthcare establishments must have a written COVID-19 response plan with a designated workplace COVID-19 safety coordinator to monitor and execute this plan. Preworkscreen aids these workplace COVID-19 safety coordinators in doing so.
For example, part of this COVID-19 plan to comply with OSHA ETS involves developing patient screening policies where the organization must limit and monitor points of entry to the setting and screen all clients, patients, residents, delivery people and other visitors, and other non-employees entering the setting. Preworkscreen allows patients and visitors to be screened prior to entry by scanning a QR code on their personal device which opens a health survey to attest they are not displaying COVID-19 symptoms.
Another guideline included with the healthcare OSHA ETS is the employer must screen each employee before each work day and each shift. Screening may be conducted by asking employees to self-monitor before reporting to work. Preworkscreen allows employees to verify they do not have COVID-19 symptoms from their mobile device or desktop computer. Employers and safety coordinators can access reports of this information that can be downloaded onto an excel spreadsheet so they can save it on their own records.
If the organization requires employees to submit COVID-19 tests as part of this screening, Preworkscreen can support employees uploading these test results in our safe and secure document upload system for employee’s viewing. This information is stored in a COVID–19 log intended to assist employers with tracking and evaluating instances of employees who are COVID–19 positive. The tracking will help evaluate potential workplace exposure to other employees.
Preworkscreen’s visitor and employee health screening app makes it simple and easy to comply with OSHA ETS guidelines. To learn more, schedule a demo here.
